Can you share your tech industry career journey?
I was inspired by my brother’s passion for technology. It was contagious, and I found myself wanting to learn more. My career is focused on creating impactful change and finding new ways to harness tech for good. I have nearly 10 years of experience in technical support, where I’ve had the privilege of helping users troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of issues. I recently accepted a leadership role, ensuring that tasks are completed within the agreed-upon service level agreement (SLA) and maintaining smooth operations.
What strategies have you employed to continually develop your skills and advance your career in the tech field?
Constant learning, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace new challenges have helped me. My journey has remained full of opportunities by building a diverse skill set, expanding my network, and staying curious. Focus on your own growth and set goals that align with your passions and ambitions, not someone else’s. There may be times when the road gets tough, or you face setbacks—don’t let that deter you.
Maintaining a healthy work-life balance can be challenging in the tech industry. How do you prioritize your personal life while excelling in your career?
Balancing a career with the demands of being a new mom was overwhelming. With the right strategies and support, it became easier, and I was able to create balance. I always prioritize health and well-being and ask for help when needed. My family and their belief in me, combined with their willingness to help me achieve my goals, continues to play an essential role in my overall success and well-being.
Based on your experience, what advice would you give to other women aspiring to pursue a career in technology?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! You don’t have to know everything right away.
Start with the basics and build your skills. Women in tech often face challenges regarding being heard, but your ideas and contributions make a difference.
Speak in meetings, share your insights, and don’t be afraid to advocate for your work.
Confidence is a muscle you need to strengthen, and with practice, it becomes natural.
The tech world needs diverse voices, and your presence is valuable. The journey may not always be easy, but with determination and a growth mindset, you can succeed and thrive in the tech world!
