What initially drew you to pursue a career in technology, and how has that motivation evolved throughout your journey?
I’ve always been fascinated with how technology can solve complex problems and drive innovation. Technology is one of the greatest things that’s ever happened to humankind—it connects people, provides new ways to communicate, and enhances our ability to share and experience life in meaningful ways.
I understand that many people fear technology, thinking it might take their jobs and render them obsolete. I see technology as a tool—one that we must master and use for the betterment of society. It’s not technology itself that determines outcomes, but how we choose to apply it.
Technology has made our lives more comfortable and efficient. It’s also eliminated many routine tasks that would have consumed a significant amount of our time. We can now accomplish things that were once impossible.
What strategies have you employed to continually develop your skills and advance your career in the tech field?
I focus on learning, networking, and hands-on experience.
Continuous learning: I make it a priority to stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and best practices. I regularly take online courses, attend workshops, and participate in webinars to deepen my knowledge and learn new skills. Reading industry blogs, following tech influencers, and subscribing to relevant newsletters also helps me stay informed.
Hands-on projects: The best way to learn is by doing, whether it’s personal projects, contributing to open-source initiatives, or collaborating with others on side projects. These experiences not only help me apply what I’ve learned but also expose me to real-world challenges and solutions.
Networking and mentorship: Building connections within the tech community has been invaluable to my growth. I actively participate in tech meetups, conferences, and online forums where I can learn from others and share my own experiences. Seeking out mentors and being a mentor has provided me with guidance, different perspectives, and opportunities to grow.
Adapting to change: The tech industry is always changing, so I’ve developed a mindset of adaptability. I embrace new technologies and methodologies, even if it means stepping out of my comfort zone. This willingness to adapt has allowed me to stay relevant and seize new opportunities as they arise.
Setting goals and reflecting: I set both short-term and long-term goals for my career and skills development. I regularly reflect on my progress, identify areas for improvement, and adjust my strategies. This keeps me focused and ensures that I’m continually moving forward.
