CSC’s Season of Giving

Employees spread holiday cheer around the world

Jeff Lyons, CSC senior communication specialist

’Tis the season for spreading kindness to the many communities that we’re grateful to be a part of.

The people of CSC have dedicated their time and resources to the causes that matter most to them. As 2024 ends, we’re proud to showcase how our people have celebrated a season of giving. From collection drives, fundraisers, and more, they’ve come together to spread holiday cheer and to give back in new, festive ways.

Below are just a few stories from our many selfless colleagues.

Boost for Children in Need | Dublin, Ireland and St Helier, Jersey

Colleagues in both our St Helier, Jersey and Dublin, Ireland offices were boxing up goodies for kids in their communities. Our Dublin colleagues supported Team Hope’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal, and our St Helier colleagues worked with their local rotary club on their Christmas Shoebox Campaign. Teams purchased and packaged presents to be given to children in need just in time for the holidays.

Business support manager Fiona Awerbuck describes the experience as delightful. “The generous and thoughtful donations from the team here in Dublin will bring joy and a sense of hope to children who might otherwise go without gifts during the holiday season,” she says. “For all those involved, it filled us with a sense of purpose especially at this time of the year.” Over on the island of Jersey, team leader Kirsty Maloney shared similar sentiments. “We’re delighted to have taken part again this year in this wonderful initiative. It brings us so much joy that we are able to help make a child’s Christmas,” she says. Between both locations, more than 50 presents were donated!

Fighting Food Insecurity | Various

Singapore

Cooking, baking, and serving were the simple yet impactful ways colleagues from our Singapore office worked together to combat food insecurity. Coordinated by Human Resources director Lynette Chuah, colleagues partnered with Project Dignity. Colleagues spent their time preparing meals for low-income families and individuals that the organization could later distribute. The group has plans to find other ways to continue giving/teambuilding activities in the future.

London, U.K.

Paul Ashworth set out to leave a little kindness on people’s doorsteps as he partnered with his local church for a Christmas Hampers in Wandsworth initiative. The vice president of finance and members of his church packed more than 250 boxes for families in need. They reached out to local food wholesalers and retailers to source products and spent the day packaging the goods. “We did this for the first time last year, but this was on a larger scale this time,” says Paul. “Often doors were not opened, residents were frightened, concerned that we were after something such as rent. Also not used to getting something for nothing and having so little themselves. Yet having persisted or just by leaving the box on the mat, we did end up with many tears and heartfelt thanks. That was all we wanted, showing how we, as a local church, are there to support the local community.”

Delaware, U.S.

All hands were on deck as colleagues from the Wilmington, Delaware, office teamed up to volunteer at their local food bank. Global resource partner Charles Schwartz, global subsidiary compliance specialists Amanda Harley and Erica Wisnieski, and senior global resource partner Laurie Derr bagged food that was to be later distributed to children in need. “Giving back is important to me because life is so precious, and I want everyone to be able to enjoy their time on this planet. Some of us are luckier than others, so I think it’s so important to help out and balance the scales as much as humanly possible,” says Laurie. Together, they packed more than 240 bags!

Animal Advocacy | San Diego, California, U.S.

Technical product trainer Jim Isaac laced up his shoes his ninth annual Donut Run. The run, which initially wasn’t tied to a charitable organization, has since partnered with a local donut shop to use the run as a way to raise money for the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. The partnership began in 2020. “It’s a well-run, reputable local organization that provides a haven and relocation services for some of life’s littlest and most adorable creatures,” says Jim. “Organizations like this need local support, and I’m always considering ways to get involved with my community.” Donations to the run are matched through CSC’s contribution match program, and many of Jim’s colleagues take time to join in. This year, colleagues Eric Vonk, Amiee Turnier, Arianne Turnier, Sara Jones, and Jamie Mazza all participated as well!
