IncSpot System Requirements - Updated October 2005  


IncSpot is designed to work on a variety of desktop environments. However, for optimal performance, the following requirements must be met on our local PC.

Operating Systems Supported: Browser Support: Please note that other browsers such as Firefox and Safari will work with IncSpot but could create some compatibility issues.

Adobe Acrobat Support:

Acrobat is used to view and print PDF forms present within IncSpot. The version of Acrobat Reader and the Acrobat full version are different. Full version supports the ability to save content of the fillable forms. Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded at www.adobe.com.

Browser Settings:

Microsoft Internet Explorer must be set to check for newer versions of stored pages with every visit to the page. The browser must also be set to disable script debugging and 128 bit Cipher Strength.

To set the browser to "Check for newer versions of stored pages with every visit to the page":

1. From Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu
2. Select Internet Options
3. Choose the General Tab
4. Click the Settings button (under Temporary Internet section of the General tab)
5. Mark the radio button next to Every Visit To The Page
6. Click OK.

To set the browser to "Disable Script Debugging":

1. From Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu
2. Select Internet Options
3. Choose the Advanced Tab
4. Under the browsing category, mark the check box next to Disable Script Debugging.
5. Scroll down and mark the check box next to Reuse Windows for Launching Shortcuts
6. Scroll down to the Security section. There should be NO checkmark next to Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk.
7. Mark the check box next to Empty Temporary Files Folder when Browser is Closed.
8. Click Apply, then OK


128-bit Cipher Strength for Microsoft Internet Explorer:

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click the Help Menu
3. Choose About Internet Explorer. The Cipher Strength currently installed is listed on the second line down (under your version)
4. If the version is lower than 128-bit, you must visit Microsoft's Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack. Choose the link that matches your version of Internet Explorer to download the 128-bit encryption pack.


-------- System Administrator Alert ----------

Your System Administrator or DeskTop support person should address the requirements below.

Proxy Server Settings:
Due to the nature of our web application, direct communication is required to our web server, therefore the following Domains need to be excluded from any and all Proxy/Caching servers between the client and our servers. There should be no caching on the Proxy servers at ANY level.
RecordsCenter Exceptions


When using the Minute Books and Document areas of RecordsCenter, the following applet needs to be installed. This is a one-time install. Please contact your Local Network Administrator if you do not have administration privileges on your PC.

Minimum Recommended setting for Content Transfer Applet in RecordsCenter application.


Browser:

Minimum Browser requirements for the Minute Books/Documents area:
System Requirements: Users with power user rights should be able to use the applet without an issue. Any users without Power user rights will need to have the ability to install the two .cab files that are downloaded by the browser in addition users will also need these rights on the registry to perform these functions: Browser Machine Requirements:

Macintosh; 5 MB 640 MB 800 MHz G4 800x600
* You must also have sufficient free disk space to handle temporary content transfer files, which can vary substantially from one enterprise to another.

Once the applet had been installed a directory will be created on the local machine. This directory will be C:\documentum with two subfolders \contentXfer and \Checkout. Users that cannot write to the local disk on the machine will receive an error during checkout operations.


JRE version(s): The RecordsCenter application does not require users to user the Content transfer Applet until the user needs to Check In, Check Out or Cancel Check Out of any content in the Minute Books and Documents area. Where the applet gets installed depends on the browser and JRE you are using. If a user cannot install the Content Transfer Applet, transfer will not take place.

Steps if download permission granted by client Network System Administrator:

1. Log into Incspot
2. Click on RecordsCenter/Company Records
3. From the RecordsCenter portfolio click on either the Minute Books or Documents tab
4. Create an initial repository by clicking on the Create Minute Book or Create Repository link
5. After you have set up your repository, click on the new Repository name. An Import link appears in the middle of the page. If you have set up a Minute Book, please move to either Articles, Bylaws, Minutes, Stock or Forms/Permits sub tabs to see the Import link
6. A prompt from EMC will appear requesting permission to proceed with the applet install
7. Installation is quick and occurs one-time only. It is suggested that you turn off (Always trust EMC) the security pop-up. Otherwise it is launched for each new document session.
