Our culture promotes a collaborative working environment, and that makes us very strong as a team.
What’s your title and how long have you been in your current position?
I’m an assistant vice president with the project and implementation team based in India and joined the company in September 2022.
Give us a little insight into your role and what you do.
I’m a member of the project implementation team working in Bombay. The primary objective of the team is to introduce and implement automated tools on different projects on a global scale. My focus is on project management and acting as liaison between various teams. I’m responsible for planning and helping with the execution of many of these projects and acting as a link between the target jurisdiction teams, IT, and our own team.
Why did you choose to work for the organization?
I chose to work for CSC because of the organization’s sterling reputation, our strong and unwavering values, and impressive track record of achievements. The organization’s focus is on quality products, providing exceptional service, and client satisfaction.
What experiences led you to your current position?
My earliest work was with start-ups in India. I gained experience in building processes and operations from the ground up and taking them to the next level. Being able to apply that knowledge in an established company is part of what brought me to this role.
With start-ups, I was often among the first people working with founding members to start everything. Through those experiences, I learned to quickly identify the end state we needed to get to and what the steps are that we must have in place to achieve that goal.
On the CSC team, we handle diverse projects simultaneously in multiple jurisdictions globally. And I start off in the same way by defining what the end state should be and working from there backward. What strikes me as very different is the timelines within start-ups and established companies. At a start-up, everything must be done yesterday; in an established structure, it gives you slightly more time to plan better and be better prepared.
What makes your team different?
The first thing I noticed about the team was that everyone was super helpful. They made it easy to transition into the new role. Another thing is our diversity in terms of experience and skills within the team. Everyone generously shares their expertise. Our culture promotes a collaborative working environment, and that makes us very strong as a team. I think a lot of the credit also goes to our manager for creating a highly supportive, conducive culture with open communication, mutual respect, and a strong sense of camaraderie.
What gets you excited to come to work in the morning?
Working with the team plays an important role. Everyone has a sense of urgency, and getting things done and dealing with all the different time zones given our global scope. People get on Teams together and move projects forward. Although I’ve been here for a short time, I’ve noticed that there’s a lot of opportunity for individuals to shape their own paths based on their unique interests, strengths, and goals. We have frequent conversations about development, like, “Where are you right now? Where do you want to go? How do you think you can do that, and as a company, how do we help you?” And there is always something interesting happening. Today we’re going to be working with a team out of Australia; tomorrow, it could be Luxembourg. It’s a combination of all these things together that inspires me every day and makes me want to see what’s next.
What’s the most interesting thing about working here and about the work you do?
There’s a new platform we’re showcasing to various jurisdictions and introducing the possibility of automating many of their processes. The response we’ve received so far has been positive, and I’m excited about the future of the project.
What are you learning now, and why is it important?
I love learning new languages, even though I started later in life. I’m in the process of learning French right now and have been studying it for about a year. It’s already helped me in my work with CSC! I traveled to Luxembourg for work in March and discovered that everyone speaks French. I apologized a lot for butchering the language, but it was a wonderfully immersive experience with a new skill.
What is the work-life balance like?
The work-life balance in this organization is highly valued, and I feel supported in pursuing interests outside of work. While we are committed to delivering high-quality work and meeting deadlines, there is an understanding that individuals need time for rest, relaxation, and pursuing personal interests. Managers and colleagues are supportive of maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
In addition to studying languages, I love reading books. I’m a voracious reader. Taking a break to read something is restorative for me, so I try to make sure I do it frequently. I’m most interested in fiction and science fiction—I’ve heard that whatever you read in science fiction is about ten years from becoming a reality! So, I’m waiting to see what happens in the next ten years.
