Chris Edmonds

The company offers a lot of growth opportunities, either into other roles or teams or by helping you become better in your current job.

What is your full title and how long have you been in your current position?

I’m a customer service associate on the Full-Service Team in Springfield, Illinois, and I’ve been with CSC since November 2020.

Give us a little insight into your role and what you do.

We process documents for businesses and individuals throughout the United States, which involve UCC filings, state tax liens, federal tax liens, and local judgments. We check if there are any filings for a company or an individual who requests certain filings. We have the expertise to research and get the results the clients need. We always make sure that everything the client requests gets the proper research treatment.

What did you do before you joined CSC?

I got a job in customer service for a coffee company through a placement agency. When the pandemic hit in April 2020, they let me go, but brought me back in June. I was let go again because of the pandemic in early October 2020. It was through the same agency that I was hired part-time at CSC in November 2020. I was brought on full-time in March 2021.

What has your career growth been like at CSC?

I’ve been here for about two years and I’m still learning everything we do. CSC offers so many different products and services, so I’m focusing on learning as much as I can and growing in my role.

The company offers a lot of growth opportunities, either into other roles or teams or by helping you become better in your current job. There are LinkedIn Learning courses to let me brush up on different skill sets and mentoring programs—things like that—that make me confident I can keep growing with the company and branch out to a higher position when I’m ready. Plus, the people in my department have been incredibly helpful.

With my job, I have to learn all the jurisdictions we deal with when it comes to processing documents for businesses and individuals throughout the U.S. My goal is to be trained on all the states and jurisdictions so I have the most knowledge I can in the department. And if we were to hire someone new, I’d be able to help train them and help them succeed, the same way a lot of my teammates helped me when I started.

What makes your team different?

Everyone here is very hardworking. They’re dedicated to their clients and it’s always quality over quantity when it comes to the work we do. We’re definitely very helpful. We reach out to one another to make sure that we’re on the same page. If I happen to come across something I don’t understand, I can lean on my teammates for help. I have a lot of trust in them and their knowledge, and they’ve been with the company and the department longer than me. We work together well and accomplish more as a group.

What do you like most about the culture?

The culture here is really one of comradery. When I come to work, I don’t really have much to worry about. Even when I need help or I’m feeling lost, I don’t feel stuck. Everyone is so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I have a great group of people around me to rely on.

And that kindness and sense of working together are aspects of the culture that I was exposed to right away, even before I was hired. When I first talked with CSC, the interviewers were extremely nice and made me feel welcome right from the start.

Teamwork and being genuine are two of our company values, and those aren’t just things we say. But they’re things that everyone buys into, that everyone really lives, and I think that’s what makes the culture here unique.

How’s the work-life balance for you? Do you have enough time to pursue outside interests?

Definitely. When I graduated from college, I worked for a news station and those hours were terrible, nights and weekends too. It was hard to balance work and my life outside of work with friends and family.

At CSC, I have stable work hours and the company really emphasizes our well-being. They offer paid time off and mental and physical health resources. I can see my family and hang out with my friends on a pretty consistent basis. Overall, there’s a good work-life balance.

What opportunities do you see developing in the industry in the next five years?

I really see this company continuing to grow and expand, because people here are so hardworking and dedicated to their work. CSC almost doubled in size in the last year, and that means even more opportunities are available.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work at CSC?

I’d let them know the work environment is great and everyone is very helpful and knowledgeable. A lot of people get anxious when they start a new job, and I’d tell newcomers not to get too worked up about things when you first start here. There’s a learning curve with every job, but the people you work with here will make you feel very comfortable to the point where you can thrive in any position.
